Site Admin Tips

Here are some tips for administering the web site.
Adding a Newsleter Post
- To add a monthly newsletter, click "Add a Post" under links and fill in the title and form.
- To upload the newsletter (or any other attachment), click "Browse" button, and find the file (e.g. the NewsLetter), and on the Dialog Box click OK. Then click the "upload" button below where it says "Browse"
- Once the file has uploaded, you will see it in browse. Click the file in the "Browse Tab1". This brings up several options:
- Use Original/Use Thumbnail/Use Original. These Optios are only available for images, not for text documents, like teh monthly newsletter.
- Linked to Page/Linked to File. This controls how the file is linked, but it doesn’t really matter which way you do it
- Send to Editor. This will put the link/photo in the post you are currently working on.
- Delete. Deletes the file, and the item in the post…
- Close Options. Done working with the file for the moment.
and click "send to editor".

I’m sorry that they named both the button and the tab "Browse", but I can’t help that
Web Log (this site)
I can change the look of this quite easily, and have numerous options ready to show you. Multiple people can log to post/administer the site. You can have posts that can only be seen by members. You can subscribe to the posts either via email or RSS. You can allow users to comment on posts or not.
you can do very sophisticated html entries, just type it up, or do all the sophisticated stuff in the attachement (which you can upload with relative ease).
Photo Gallery
The photo gallery has public and private sections. To see the private sections, you must be a member of the photo site (sorry currently separate logins) and be logged in.
I could probably change the look and feel of the photo site, but I’ve never actually done it.
Calendar
There are two types of calendar linked on the right. Both allow for multiple users and password protection, and meet all our needs.
- a custom calendar running on my web site. I have full control over it, and its workable, but its not as easy as the Google site.
-The Google calendar. The Google calendar is faster and easier to use than the one I set up. I can’t really change the way it looks though. This is the one we now use for home use (and it also allows me to integrate multiple calendars easily).
